Very often, when we hear about psychology, it is full of complex terms we do not understand, which make the information we are given useless because we cannot follow it and, therefore, cannot apply it in our daily lives. That is why we introduce the terms “child behaviour”, “emotion regulation” and “temperament”, which are key to our project, so that you can understand the information we will share with you throughout this blog.

  • Child behaviour: the set of behaviours or actions children carry out in response to a motivation, understood as the reason that drives them to start a particular behaviour. This behaviour takes place in a particular place and time. So the actions our children carry out, and that we can observe, make up their behaviour.
  • Temperament: the most basic, genetically determined way in which an individual faces and reacts to a particular situation. It is influenced by prenatal factors such as the mother's stress and anxiety during pregnancy or maternal depression, and it determines whether a person is easy (calm and adaptable), difficult (with negative mood and difficulty adapting) or slow to warm up (slow in development).
  • Emotion regulation: emotion regulation is the ability to handle emotions appropriately. It involves becoming aware of the relationship between emotion, thought and behaviour; having good coping strategies; being able to generate positive emotions for oneself, and so on.
